“The sea of yesterday, the land of today. Along the coastline hidden among the high-rises, we search for the beautiful old days.”
In Search of Coastline is a large scale art project by Art Together. The coastline of Hong Kong has experienced dramatic changes over the years with land reclamation. We can never imagine how it changed the industry, daily lives or even neighbourhood relationship for the old coastline inhabitant.
The project consist of 4 parts, an open call for coastline stories, a series of school workshops guiding students to create their own roving art piece, a parade with the art trolley along the old coastline, and finally an exhibition of the students’ work.
The Art Parade was held along the 1967 coastline in Hong Kong Island. Apart from the art trolley, artists and old neighbours were invited to share their personal stories about old good days. We created a map for this parade, and the site-design for the exhibition.
